Details for 1929 Map of Discovery: Western Hemisphere

This beautiful wall map is one of the five murals that the famous American painter N. C. Wyeth created for the Hubbard Memorial Hall, the first formal library of the National Geographic Society. It shows the discovery of the western hemisphere. The routes of the explorers and the corresponding data of the expeditions are indicated.

The map, published in 1929, shows North America and South America, with the borders as they were in 1927. There are also wonderful details such as the portrayal of the sea god Poseidon and a mermaid.
